MEET YOUR COACH
Terry J. Apt, MSN, APRN-BC
In my work as both an Oncology Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner in Palliative Care & Hospice, I realized that my patients typically lived from one appointment or procedure to another. They did not know how to take care of themselves between these appointments. There was a lack of knowledge as to how to take control of their own wellbeing and they wanted a variety of concerns and questions addressed, such as:

-
What should I eat?
-
How do I make a smoothie?
-
How can I get better sleep?
-
How do I reduce my stress?
-
What do I say to my family and caregivers?

These are few of the questions and topics I was frequently asked to address. Cancer patients were seeking advice and answers to their concerns the medical community was unable to respond to. I am passionate and caring about “filling in the gaps” and encouraging patients to live more meaningfully, with their cancer diagnosis.
